Balance is something we all hope for—without even always genuinely aiming for it—it is our sincerest wish. There is the ever day dreamy aspiration to have it all and to have it all now. You and I know this will never get us there. We must begin to look at balance with a different perspective for it to be a part of our tangible grasp.
First, balance is a feeling of being whole and complete and that is only attainable when we are present and aligned with either our best self or our higher power. Think about it. The times you feel out of balance are when you are thinking of the past or non-existent future. If you are comparing yourself to others or even to a version of yourself from another time and imagining you will only be happy when you check off certain boxes, balance will never be yours. Balance comes when you become fully present. It is in the present moment that you are whole, complete, and enough. If you believe in God, God sees you as whole and complete and it is you who put yourself in a box with shame and judgment. God loves you as is, no matter how you believe you are measuring up. If God’s unconditional love doesn’t do it for you, the best, shiniest version of yourself requires embracing yourself as is, no expectations or conditions allowed.
Some ways to support you when you are feeling off balance:
- Get present. You can do this with your breath. As you take an intentional pause you are becoming the highest version of yourself and if you so believe, inviting in God. This is an opportunity to begin again.
- Let go. Release the thoughts, mindsets, beliefs, and actions causing your stress, overwhelm and imbalance. This either makes space for your best self to emerge or for you to allow God to help you out. This can be an opportunity for growth.
- Stop limited thinking. Remove judgment of self, situation, and others. Your best self wants to rise up and greet you if you get out of your own way. If you are a believer, then you know God is limitless, all knowing and all loving. Quit putting yourself and God in a box.
- Give yourself and others compassion. This removes separation whether from Self or God.
These were some of the concepts discussed in last months Living in Balance Virtual Retreat. The ten attendees came away with awareness on the necessity for boundaries, the importance of giving self a break (both mentally and physically), the necessity of unplugging from technology, stopping verbal negativity, inspiration to find balancing agents and much more.
If you want to achieve balance, quit looking at everything in equal parts. Allow the past and future to be in their place as you get present. This is a hard, strange season we are in—even without the covid pandemic, racial inequity, distance learning and political tension—life can be incredibly challenging. So if you are going to have any semblance of balance, I invite you to make a practice of getting present. When you find yourself stressing out about the future, come home to your breath, it is one of the handful of things you can control. Call upon your best self, what would she do? Call upon your God of understanding, how would she respond?
I’m here accepting new clients who are curious what living in balance can look like and how it can support you for your greatest good. Set up a Discovery Call on my website, www.mamaneedsarefill.com or text me directly, 206.255.0463.
Remember, balance is only how you envision it and it’s yours when you embrace the present moment.
